An American Airlines passenger said his wallet was still missing after trying to track it using an Apple AirTag device shown to have flown to 35 cities.
John Lewis said in a Twitter video on Jan. 30 that he received help from an airline employee after he first tweeted about his missing wallet two days ago.
“Unfortunately, we only found the AirTag, no wallet,” explains Lewis. “So when I called as soon as I found out my wallet was gone, I mean the cleaners. I hate blaming anyone…they clean up so well, so the cleaners.” someone left a wallet and an AirTag.”
He pointed out that he heard the AirTag “buried” under the seat. He said the wallet wouldn’t fit under the seat by itself, but the tag would.
AirTags, which are small metal discs, can be tracked using the Find My app.

“I don’t think they realized that I called right after I went missing. They knew I was in Tulsa, Oklahoma,” Lewis added. He canceled his credit card and planned to get a new ID card.
Lewis, Missouri, said his flight was delayed by an hour and he had to hurry to catch the next plane. He eventually took responsibility for forgetting his wallet.

“Thank you for following up, please join us in DM and send us your wallet’s current location so we can assist you as soon as possible,” American Airlines replied.

In his original post, Lewis said he was an American Airlines platinum member and at least the AirTag had to go “100,000 miles easily.”
