An Airbnb host shows a now-viral TikTok after an unruly guest trashed her unit, documenting the cleanup process. However, some viewers suspect that the disaster was staged.
in a video posted by @Mariheredi On February 7th, she demonstrates the damage allegedly done to their unit by previous guests. This includes spray painting the walls, spilling detergent on the kitchen floor, filling water and locking the bathroom.
The caption read, ‘Small bump in the road! please give me.”
@Mariheredi A small bump in the road! But we keep pushing. Airbnb has insurance and will pay for lost reservations, furniture replacement and cleaning in full. Check out Instagram @thewealthygirls for more. #airbnbhost ♬ Original sound – ![]()
In a follow-up video posted on Feb. 6, the host gives a tour showing off her freshly cleaned apartment.
While many praised their positive attitude, others suspected that the conversion of the ruined unit was merely to promote the unit.
“The way they say nothing about charging or pressing for $$ makes this feel staged,” noted one user.
“Was this for promotional purposes? I’d like to know why they threw it in the trash,” said another.
Another wrote, “I feel like you haven’t told us all the causes that seemed personal.”
@Mariheredi Good news to everyone All is well with our unit and we are back in business! Airbnb will pay us for all damages! Check out our insta @thewealthygirls for more info. #airbnb #airbnbhost #airbnb horror stories ♬ Chill Vibes – Trang Kim
Despite speculation, @mariheredi claims the damage was done by a guest and not staged for viewing in a follow-up video. She added that Airbnb covered the damage, so she’s “not going to sue them.”

Still, many viewers claimed that “something is going wrong,” and one user speculated that “things are going wrong.”
“No, there’s something crazy weird about this whole thing,” echoed another.
One user asked how the host has the reservation information but doesn’t know who is responsible. The creator clarified in the comments that the guest was suspected of using a fake profile.
