Air Canada Will Upgrade Service To Las Vegas, Phoenix And Miami With The Airbus A330-300 & Boeing 777-200LR

Air Canada is preparing to boost capacity with wide-body aircraft in the U.S. this fall and winter. The airline plans to send Airbus A330-300s to Las Vegas and Phoenix and base Boeing 777-200LRs in Miami.

Some U.S. routes already have Air Canada wide-body aircraft in regular service, but other routes often have seasonal changes to their schedules, which will take effect in September and October ahead of the busy holiday season.

Sin City Widebody

according to Isurion AirlinesAir Canada updated its U.S. wide-body schedules on Thursday. Data from aviation analytics firm Psyllium Starting Sept. 3, the airline will deploy its 787-8 Dreamliners from its hub at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) to Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) after a two-month pause. The aircraft will operate 15 round-trip flights, for a total of 30 flights, through Sept. 17. The following day, the larger 787-9s will take over, operating 13 round-trip flights, for a total of 26 flights.

787-9 operations between YYZ and LAS will continue in October, with a total of 52 flights. Air Canada will also operate 10 A330-300 flights during the month. In November, the 787-9s will be removed from the route, leaving the A330-300 as the only widebody aircraft operating between the two destinations. The aircraft will operate a total of 60 flights, with the remaining flights being handled by the A319 and A321.

The airline has about 2 million seats available to the United States and the Caribbean.

Interestingly, the 737 MAX 8 will replace the Airbus narrowbody aircraft in December, but the A330-300 will remain and operate 62 flights. Air Canada plans to continue operating widebody aircraft between YYZ and LAS until April 2025.

A330 in the Valley of the Sun

Air Canada will begin deploying the 787-8 from YYZ to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) when the aircraft finishes its duties at LAS on Sept. 17. The aircraft is scheduled to operate 14 flights in each direction for one month before the 787-9 and A330-300 are deployed in October. The widebody aircraft will operate alongside the A220-300, A319 and A321 for two months.

However, all aircraft types except the A330-300 will be removed from the route in November and December, and wide-body aircraft will be the only airlines operating between YYZ and PHX until February 2025.

777 in Miami

Air Canada will deploy a 777-200LR on four weekly flights from YYZ to Miami International Airport (MIA) starting October 27. The aircraft will serve the route until December 31, but will not completely replace other aircraft on the route, as A320s and A321s will continue to operate between the two destinations.

Air Canada has scheduled 134 flights on this route in October. The 777-200LR will operate three flights each way, and the A320 will operate only one flight each way. The A321 is scheduled as the primary aircraft between YYZ and MIA, operating a total of 126 flights.

In November, the 777-200LR will operate 34 of the route’s 180 flights. Due to increased frequencies, the A320 will operate 14 flights and the A321 will operate 132 flights. Air Canada has 219 flights scheduled on the route in December. The 777-200LR will operate 36 flights and the A320 will operate some. The A321 will again operate the vast majority.
