Arlington, Virginia – The American Frozen Foods Institute (AFFI) welcomes Jennifer Norka as Director of Scientific Regulation. Jennifer is a food scientist and public health professional with expertise in nutrition, food safety and regulation. In this role, she supports AFFI’s activities and engagements with key federal agencies and the food industry, driving the association’s regulatory and technical priorities.

Jennifer holds a master’s degree in public health with a specialization in nutrition from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While completing her advanced degree, she was an assistant in the North Carolina State University Agriculture Extension’s Food Safety Extension Program. In this role, she led numerous activities to support food safety, including the development of training programs with the North Carolina Office of Public Guidance for Nutrition Managers on food recalls and outbreak preparedness in K-12 schools. Did. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Food Science from Purdue University.

Prior to her master’s degree, Jennifer held a number of quality assurance positions within Eight O’ Clock Coffee, managing the coffee roaster’s quality lab. She also worked at her DC Central Kitchen, where she interned in Community Engagements.

“I am delighted to join the AFFI team and represent the frozen food and beverage industry in promoting a bright future for safe, nutritious and easy-to-prepare frozen foods,” said Jennifer.

Jennifer will report to Dr. Donna Galen, AFFI’s Executive Vice President of Science and Policy. Jennifer joined AFFI on July 3rd.

“Jennifer is an excellent addition to AFFI’s food safety program and brings first-hand practical experience in food safety regulation, regulatory technology management, and evidence-based program development and implementation,” said Dr. Galen. said. “Her technical understanding and food safety and nutrition experience will enhance AFFI’s regulatory contributions and benefit members of the frozen food and beverage industry.”
