In SELF’s new Hot Stuff series, we ask celebrities, athletes, and other notable people to open up about the habits, rituals, and products that make them feel more confident and sexy. Read on for the first installment.
Paige DeSorbo knows what she likes and isn’t afraid to say it, which is exactly why her fans — Bravo die-hard fans, avid podcast listeners, and 1.3 million Instagram followers — love her. Summer House Or cooking with your best friend. Giggly SquadDeSorbo, a 31-year-old New Yorker, is well known for her chic style, forthright empathy, and humor, so when I asked DeSorbo what makes her so appealing, I knew I was in for a great experience.
With such confidence, it’s hard to imagine DeSorbo ever needing a boost, but like the rest of us, she’s human and recognizes that external factors can affect her self-esteem: “I mean, I’ve left a lot of places because I didn’t like the way I was dressed,” she tells SELF.
DeSorbo’s shortcuts to feeling sexy are the perfect lip combo that won’t fall out and an impulsive haircut that makes her look flattering even when she’s unkempt. And when she finds something that works, she goes all-in on it. That’s why, she says, she ordered ravioli every night during her trip to the Amalfi Coast and bought her favorite shoes in every color. So you can count on her for some solid recommendations (and a few laughs along the way). Check out her picks, in Paige’s own voice, below.
1. Larude Greta Mühl
I’ve always preferred to be overdressed rather than underdressed. I feel more comfortable walking into a room and having everyone say, “Wow, she’s really dressed up!” than not. So whenever I’m planning a travel outfit, I always bring a pair of matching heels. They always make me feel more confident and I might want to wear them at the last minute. Plus, kitten heels are super trendy right now and are great for when you don’t feel like walking around in heels. I’ve been wearing little white heels lately. Larude’s Kitten Heel They make the most comfortable shoes ever, all summer long.
2. Mane Hot Thermal Round Brush
Make me crazy Put youFor background, I cut my bangs in February and, understandably, everyone assumed I was having a hair crisis. But it was fashion week and I told my hairstylist that I thought bangs would go really well with my outfits and she said, “You should cut them.” And I’ve literally never looked back. When it comes to styling yourself, Mane heated round brush It’s a lifesaver. Using a straightener on my bangs makes them look weird, using a curling iron makes me look like Annie, and it’s such a pain to wet my hair, but this tool makes my bangs look amazing and is so much easier. You can also use it to style your whole head. It creates a nice fake curl at the end.
3. Lip Combo: MAKE UP FOREVER Lip Liner, Milk Makeup Jelly Tint, Maybelline Lifter Gloss
I’ve been changing up my lip colors lately and I think this combination is really cute. MAKE UP FOREVER Lip Liner in Caffeine Everywhere, Milk Jelly Tint In the shade SpritzI spent some time in Italy this summer, and when you’re in Italy, you’re constantly eating. You need something that lasts, is easy, and looks great. Milk Jelly is perfect because it’s like a lip stain. Plus, I love that you can apply it on your cheeks to add a uniform color to your makeup. And when you want a glossy finish, Maybelline Lifter Gloss In the shade solar.
4. Facing the reality of sulfur spot treatment
When it comes to feeling confident, the first thing that comes to mind is my skin. I have been using Face Reality products for three months now and have been following the routine religiously, and my favorite thing is Sulfur Spot TreatmentNo joke, it dries up pimples in 24 hours. Anywhere Along with that.
5. Road Glazing Milk
This summer, finally Road Glazing Milk I heard about this product from everyone and I absolutely love it. It really makes a difference to my face makeup. Everything goes on smoother and it definitely has a little more glow to it. I’m a fan. I love moisturized, natural looking skin, so… Is she sweating a little? I changed my makeup to matte. I am not a baking person by any means.
6. Dibs Beauty Status Stick
I like to find multi-purpose makeup products to make my bag a little neater. Dibs Beauty Status StickI love using it as a highlighter on my face, but I also use it literally all over my body. I mix it with lotion, I rub it on my shoulders, I use it on my legs for an extra glow. I start at my ankles and work it down from my calf bone to my knees, and it makes my legs look super flattering when I wear shorts or a mini skirt.
7. La Marca Prosecco
One of my mom’s rules is to always have a bottle of champagne in the fridge. If I have girlfriends over or I’m getting ready to go out, I only drink prosecco. Sometimes I’m not in the mood for a heavy cocktail or the trendy drink of the day. I hate Aperol Spritz; I think it tastes like Robutusin. It’s nice to have a go-to alternative that makes me feel fun and fashionable. Plus, I definitely have a champagne essence in me. In Italy, my dad told me, “You should only drink prosecco for the rest of your life, because it makes you feel like you.”
In the moment? So cheerful, so chic, so much fun. The next day? Huge headache. So irritable. Just the worst. But I love that about me. I can be both!
