If you’re as obsessed with the 2024 Olympics as I am — meaning you’ve seen your face literally up close and personal on a TV screen a number of times — you may have noticed some fierce competition in my favorite unofficial competition: the nail game.

The fresh sets and glossy finishes shown off in Paris would be striking under any circumstances, but slicing through the air in the middle of competition? Iconic. Sure, athletes expect to look polished at the Opening Ceremony, but adding a little glamour on the court, gym, pool, or track makes all the difference. We’re seeing custom coffin-shaped acrylic for superhuman grip, chlorine-proof neon tips, and patriotic nail art that’ll make you want to stand up and salute.

The road to the Olympics is a tough one, so it’s always nice to see athletes have some fun and show off a little individual style on the world stage. It’s amazing how much individuality and personality a great manicure can convey. While we’re left wondering exactly how those nails are going to grip the barre or tennis racket, we’re still having a blast with the Olympic Village manicures. (It probably helps that all the athletes can enjoy glamorous manicures on-site in Paris.)

Check out our favorite nail designs that will be in style at the 2024 Olympics below, and be sure to check back on this page regularly as the Olympics progress (Sha’Carri, we’re ready!).

Chiles delivered a spectacular uneven bars routine in this set, while I once broke a nail while grocery shopping.
