Milwaukee — A 10-year-old boy who shot and killed his 44-year-old mother in Milwaukee last week has been charged with first-degree murder as an adult.

According to the criminal complaint, the boy was upset that his mother didn’t let him get up early and buy something on Amazon.

The fatal shooting took place near 87th and Hemlock around 7:00 am on Monday, November 21st. A woman identified as Kiana Mann was shot in the head and died from her injuries.

According to the criminal complaint, the boy said he was twirling the gun between his fingers when he was first interviewed and “accidentally fired”. After killing his mother, the boy woke his sister to find her mother dead and called 911.

Due to his age, the boy was allowed to stay with his family. However, the next day, the family contacted the Milwaukee Police Department with “serious concerns.”

The boy’s 26-year-old sister told detectives the boy had “an anger problem” throughout his life and that “five different imaginary characters have spoken to him,” according to the complaint.

According to the complaint, the therapist had previously given the boy a “concerning diagnosis” and the mother had installed cameras in the house to monitor the boy. Someone was unplugging these cameras.”

The sisters also told detectives they learned the boy had logged into his mother’s Amazon account and ordered an Oculus virtual reality headset the morning after his mother’s death.

According to the complaint, one family member claimed the boy grabbed the puppy by the tail and “swinged it around until it cried and howled in pain.” This allegedly occurred when the boy was four years old.

The aunt told detectives the boy had never cried or regretted his mother’s death. It is said that The day after her mother’s death, her aunt apologized for killing her mother and asked her if the Amazon package had arrived.

In a second interview with detectives, the boy is said to have admitted to retrieving the gun. The complaint also says he admitted to getting the key to the gun lockbox from his mother the night before.

Neighbors described the family as average. Steve Frisch lives near Hemlock on 87th and Hemlock for over 20 years. His quiet neighborhood was shaken last week when police arrested his 10-year-old boy.

“I’m still surprised when there’s shooting around, but (it’s) usually a ()quiet neighborhood,” Frisch said. ”

On Wednesday morning, TMJ4 News asked Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson about the charges facing the 10-year-old boy.

“Whenever there’s crime in the city, whether it’s committed by a 10-year-old or someone much older, it’s always a concern,” Johnson said. I’m just learning about this case.I learned the details this morning.”

A 10-year-old boy has been charged with first-degree reckless murder. If convicted, he faces up to 60 years in prison.

He appeared in court on Friday and was given a cash bond of $50,000.
