It is becoming more common to create images with AI tools.
As the generation of artificial intelligence becomes more advanced, it is becoming more difficult to convey the difference between AI manufacturing and human images. However, there are still signs to note.
Here are some important indicators that images were created by AI.

1. Details Issues
When it comes to people’s photography, AI is still struggling to master the finest details such as faces, textures, hands, etc. Notice the contradictions such as extra fingers, strange skin tones, and too many teeth.
2. Shiny or fake look texture
AI doesn’t always get the texture correctly, so images may appear too smooth or shiny. This is something that appears on the skin (which may appear innocuously fine) or on natural scenes where trees and grass appear to be a kind of plastic. If everything seems a little too perfect, it’s probably AI.

3. Lighting and shadow issues
One of the easiest ways to find AI is to see how lighting and shadows work. You may see shadows in strange places, or the lighting may appear flat or inconsistent.
4. Irregular background
AI struggles with depth and perspective, so check the background. For example, you might see blurry objects or distorted skylines. Sometimes the background may not match the image’s subject correctly.
5. Confused words
If there are words in the image, they may seem cluttered, wrong, or pointless. This is because AI struggles to create easy-to-read text, especially with more complex images.
6. Hidden bias
AI learns from existing data. This has many built-in biases. As a result, AI images can showcase discrimination in format. For example, most AI images of honorable work automatically feature white men.

7. Unrealistic elements
Sometimes AI images incorporate things that simply make no sense. This can include strange coloured animals, impossible gadgets, and other truly incredible settings. If you’re questioning whether something is real or not, it may not be.

8. watermark
Some generation AI tools automatically add watermarks to images. This can be included in the bottom corner of the image or embedded in the background.
9. No metadata
You may not be able to see it right away, but AI images do not usually have metadata. This is information attached to the image file, such as photo resolution and copyright details.
To view image metadata in Windows:
- Right click Image file Select Properties
- Click detail Window tabs
To find it on a Mac:
- Right click Image file
- Select Get the info
In the actual photo, the metadata is displayed. This information is missing when AI generates photos.
10. Reverse image search
For a more deceptive photo, try it Reverse image search Track where you came from. Be careful if it’s entire social media, but not a reliable site.
