On Monday, Zac Efron received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
During his speech, Efron paid tribute to his late “17 Again” co-star Matthew Perry. he said: [director] Bar Stairs — It was a lot of fun and really pushed and motivated me in so many ways. It really pushed me into the next chapter of my career. Thank you so much, Matthew. I’m thinking of you a lot today. ”
He admitted that winning the star was a “dream come true.” Zach continued, “You have no idea how I feel right now. It’s so surreal. I’ve been acting, singing, and dancing ever since I was little, for as long as I can remember, but here today… I never dreamed that I would be standing in front of so many of my dearest friends and colleagues. I am a lifelong fan who has been with me for years and since day one. I love you so much. I am.”
Zack also made sure to thank High School Musical director Kenny Ortega and producer Bill Bowden, who attended the ceremony. He said, “You guys inspired me to be on High School Musical.” I’m just grateful for that. I still think about it every day and sing the song in the shower. ”
He also said the movie’s iconic phrase, “Go Wildcats!”
Efron said, “Thank you so much, mom. Thank you, dad. You all have made so many sacrifices for me in my life, and it hasn’t been easy, but for believing in me.” Thank you. It’s because of you that I’m here today, so it’s very, very special. Having you both here means everything in the world to me, thank you. .”
“Extra” spoke to Zack, who reflected on what the “surreal” honor meant and said he “never dreamed” it would be possible.
He said: “The first time I saw the Hollywood Walk of Fame was in the back of my mom’s minivan, doing my homework…I was on my way to an audition…I remember seeing it… . I thought that was pretty special… Well, I’m really glad to be here today. Life is just, crazy.”
Efron advised young actors, “There are no big moments… Don’t stress, keep your head up and keep chasing your dreams.”
