YouTube star Paul Harrell has passed away after a battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 58 years old.
Harrell announced his death in a video on his channel titled “I’m Dead.”
The U.S. Army and Marine Corps veteran explained that he recorded the footage on Dec. 20, 2023, and instructed his manager to “release it when I’m dead,” adding, “So if y’all are watching me, I’m dead.”
Paul, whose channel focuses on firearms reviews and gun safety, continued, “Now, a few months ago I sat down on this log to tell you all that I’d been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. I also said that because it was caught early, it would likely be there for a while. And it was caught early, but not as early as I thought it would be. It had spread faster than I thought it would.”
Pointing to the crutches next to him, he said, “You may have seen me using these crutches recently. I told you I broke my hip, and yes I did, but it wasn’t because I was in an accident. It was because the cancer had spread to my bones, shattered them, and my hip broke and I fell.”
He said: “My time is running out. I had hoped to carry on like this for the next 10, maybe 15 years and when I was diagnosed I thought I’d have a couple more years to be here. But it turns out I only have a few more months. I’m so sorry. I really feel like I’ve let everyone down.”
Harrell told fans, “I’m really happy we got the opportunity to do everything we did and I really hope this was helpful and I really appreciate you watching, commenting and participating.”
He concluded by saying, “As always, please do not try this at home. Thanks for watching.”
The video then cuts to his “heartbroken” brother saying, “It was his wish to carry on his legacy through this channel. He will continue to be an inspiration to us all.”
Manager Brad Nelson ended the video by paying tribute to his “generous and kind” friend and asking fans to carry on Harrell’s legacy.
