The Finance Director is responsible for the day-to-day management of the organization’s finance function. This includes managing the financial function integrity of the business, including budgeting, monthly reporting to management and the board, forecasting and cash flow, IT management, and risk management. This position includes working with the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) to ensure best practice leadership and compliance with key performance areas and strategic initiatives. General Manager – Finance is supported by her 1.6 of her FTEs within the Finance team.
The Key Result Areas (KRA) are::-
finance and management
- Manages the preparation of the FSA’s financial forecasts, budgets and reports and oversees the administration of all financial accounts.
- We provide financial advice, support, and guidance to CEOs to mitigate long-term financial risk and develop best-practice financial management plans.
- Assist CEOs in ensuring financial policies, systems, and processes facilitate and protect the financial health of their organizations.
- Manage the preparation of multiple projects and monitor cash flow forecasts.
- Responsible for ensuring that proper financial controls are achieved and that proper infrastructure is provided and compiled.
- Collaborate with the Finance Officer to ensure the integrity of the Board’s reporting and monthly financial statements and statements for the Finance Committee.
- Oversees the preparation of annual financial statements and collaborates with external financial experts to ensure that accurate audit requirements and standards are maintained.
- We monitor the financial performance of the wider organization and advise and recommend appropriate risk mitigation strategies to ensure financial control.
- Oversees asset management of the Financial Services Agency.
human resources
- Lead, manage and develop the business services team to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the department.
- Manage the creation and management of employment contracts and job descriptions.
- Ensure personnel files are maintained and records are maintained regarding staff training and development.
- Oversee and promote compliance with FSA’s occupational health and safety systems, policies and procedures.
Information technology and systems
- Ensure the continued development and implementation of a long-term IT strategy that supports the FSA’s strategic direction.
- Ensure that enterprise information systems are fit for purpose and properly maintained.
Risk and compliance
- Manage business risk practices and provide effective risk mitigation and management across your business.
- Manage, monitor and report on compliance with all FSA statutory obligations, funding, grants, contracts and legislative obligations.
- Ensure that proper insurance and coverage are in place for participation.
- Ensure that proper operating procedures and internal audit processes and controls are in place.
Qualifications and experience:
- An advanced qualification in accounting, finance, commerce, or a related field is required.
- Understanding and appreciation for sports.
- Proven experience in a senior financial position in a non-profit organization is preferred.
- Highly developed skills in managing financial and accounting functions.
- Proven ability to develop, implement, and manage business systems for finance, information technology, human resources management, and risk management.
- Ability to develop organizational policies and procedures.
- Ability to apply well-developed interpersonal and communication skills to lead a team.
- Proven ability to manage legislative, statutory and contractual obligations.
- Highly developed negotiation skills and ability to handle confidential information.
- A strong team player who works hard to ensure the success of the entire organization.
- Experience in communication systems and networks, Internet and intranet development, data management and security.
- Appropriate cooperation check with children.
