Directed by Guillermo del Toro, “Cabinet of Curiosities” provided viewers with a thrilling week of terrifying horror. Is Netflix planning to renew the show? Cabinet of Curiosities anthologylike Black Mirror and Love, Death, and Robots, compiles a series of horror films created by some of the genre’s most talented directors.
The show’s first season aired two episodes a day for four days leading up to Halloween. Since then, the show has earned him seven Emmy nominations, and he’s proven his mettle by winning one of the highest nominations for a Netflix show.
Despite critical acclaim and general acceptance, Netflix hasn’t renewed the show, at least not yet. Guillermo del Toro is currently working on several other Netflix titles. This may be one of the reasons why horror anthologies are never updated. Or maybe numbers. Cabinet of Curiosities had 6.2 million completed views in its first week.

In the three weeks since, I have played over 106 hours. Not surprisingly, we’ve seen shows that did better numbers get canceled. Nonetheless, an Emmy nomination definitely adds some weight to the show’s renewal contenders.
There’s no reason why Netflix shouldn’t benefit more from the anthology format. It comes with an amazing opportunity to bring out the best in multiple great directors. As for the Cabinet of Curiosities, it may be updated at some point. Guillermo del Toro himself has hinted at further possibilities. In an interview with IndieWire, he revealed that he was already on the shortlist of potential directors for a second season, and expressed his enthusiasm for continuing the series.
