She confessed that her most famous costume to date, playing Scarlett O’Hara in a dress shoddily made from cod curtains, almost never happened.
“That was the genius of costume designer Bob Mackie. “He came up with the idea,” she recalls. “Originally they wrote the song for me to come down the stairs with the curtains hanging, but Bob thought, ‘That’s not funny.'” When we went to meet him, he said, “I have an idea for a curtain dress.” I walked in and he was putting it on a mannequin. I fell to the floor laughing. I said, “This is going to be one of the greatest gags in the history of television.” And so it is. It’s in the Smithsonian Institution. ”
Barnett said doing a podcast to commemorate World Kindness Day was “really important”.
“I am very happy.”
Peter Paul, the show’s host and producer, added: It’s using your time on this earth to brighten someone else’s life. Carol Burnett has done it a million times for all of us.
