A couple who apparently sold two chicken breasts contaminated with parasites at Costco have gone viral on TikTok. The only problem? Viewers were convinced that the so-called parasite was just a vein. As of Sunday, the clip had been viewed more than 212,000 times.
Gaby Gaubert (@gaby_gaubert) says in a recent article: video She and her fiancé recently shopped at Costco and purchased the brand’s organic chicken breasts. kirkland signature. However, when they were preparing dinner, they noticed something strange about the meat.
“Wait until I show you what I found inside a Costco chicken,” Gaubert said.
Gaubert then showed viewers the meat he had purchased, Kirkland Signature organic boneless skinless chicken breast. Some of the raw meat was on the couple’s kitchen counter, but other parts remained sealed.
“Look at this,” Gaubert said, picking up the tweezers. “Do you see this?”
Gaubert then carefully pulled out a thin, worm-like substance from inside the chicken. She and her fiancé looked in disbelief when Gobert pulled the object from her chest. It later turned out to be a parasite.
“It’s a parasite,” Gaubert said. “It’s straight from the chicken.”
Her fiancé, who was not seen on camera, responded, “It’s terrible.” “I don’t eat chicken anymore.”
Unusual items found at Costco
Gaubert and his fiancée are not the first content creators to complain about possible parasites found in their food. Earlier this month, another Costco shopper said he found roundworms in eggs he bought at the store. And there’s another user on Reddit complained Regarding similar issue.
But commenters expressed doubts that Gobert had purchased contaminated chicken. Instead, many in her comments section reassured her that the so-called parasite was just a vein.
“It’s a vein,” said one.
“If so, I’ll move.” [it were] A parasite,” another added.
“This looks like a vein, not a parasite,” a third viewer wrote.
At first, Gobert was unperturbed. In response to her comment, she wrote: Really? I’ve eaten and tested chicken all my life…I’ve never seen one in my life?! Is that possible?! ? ”
It is certainly so. In March 2022, another TikToker came under fire for claiming that Costco found parasites in its rotisserie chicken, only to later inform viewers that the chicken was fine. And even if parasites were present in either scenario, cooking them would likely have killed them. Inactivates most parasites, according to a 2019 paper paper For real, the meat should only be cooked for 15 to 30 minutes at 140 degrees Fahrenheit to 167 degrees Fahrenheit.
Still, the thought of eating chicken infected with parasites made some viewers reluctant to buy meat at Costco.
“I stopped buying Costco chicken.” [a] A long time ago,” one user shared. “Even if it’s a vein (lol)”
“If it’s a ‘vein’ then it’s impossible,” another added. “I’m going to look for a local butcher or farm.”
