The White House hosted 100 digital content creators and industry experts on Wednesday for key stakeholder discussions. “Creator Economy” The sector has boomed as social media platforms have made it easier for users to monetize their content.
President Joe Biden attended the Creator Economy Conference, the first event hosted by the White House Office of Digital Strategy.
“You are the future,” Biden told an audience of influencers in the White House Indian Treaty Room, without a teleprompter. “You are the new possibilities. You are a breakthrough in how we communicate.”
“That’s why I invited you to the White House. I’m looking for a job,” he joked.
Other senior officials, including Deputy Treasury Secretary Wally Adeyemo and White House domestic policy adviser Neera Tanden, will also attend the meeting.

“These events ensure that creators have a voice in Washington that traditional entertainment and media groups have had for decades,” Franklin Graves, a tech policy lawyer who attended the conference, told CNBC.
“The legal and policy issues facing creators, brands and platforms in the creator economy are much more nuanced and often not addressed by existing regulations or government agency actions,” Graves said.
The content creation industry has exploded in recent years with the rise of influencer marketing, e-commerce and social media sites allowing creators to monetize their work on the platforms.

Biden faced almost immediate backlash from TikTok and some of the creators who rely on the platform for their income.
