Monday morning, just 126 days On the eve of the most important election of our lifetimes, two men named Joe have mysteriously disappeared from the public eye.
Joe Biden.
Joe Scarborough.
First, of course, there is Biden, the current President of the United States and Commander in Chief of the military, but Biden is once again away from the White House enjoying a long weekend, not due to return from Camp David until 8:30 tonight.
Biden debate debacle: 10 surprising media reactions, from MSNBC panic to ‘The View’ demands for replacement
Yes, there’s a total lack of urgency at a time when the rest of the party is panicking after his disastrous performance at Thursday night’s presidential debate in Atlanta.
Meanwhile, Scarborough, the former Republican congressman who helped elect Donald Trump by making him appear on MSNBC’s morning show 41 times in 2016, has also kept a low profile. Before his attacks on Trump, his interviews were so fawning, cartoonish and accommodating that Matt Taibbi wrote in Rolling Stone at the time:
“Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski should be put on a rocket and blasted into space for pandering to Trump.”
Ouch. But after Trump won the nomination and Scarborough and Brzezinski received significant backlash from MSNBC viewers for their support of Trump, they did a 180-degree turn and became some of the most anti-Trump voices on the network. No easy thing to do.
Earlier this year, it was revealed that Scarborough and Brzezinski are in regular contact with Biden off set. Biden apparently watches the show every day, which can’t be a good thing given the insanity of the comments, like this prediction from Scarborough about what Trump would do if he won a second term:
“He will imprison and execute and deport anyone he is allowed to imprison, execute and deport,” Scarborough said in November 2023. “Just look at his history! It’s not that hard to read.”
Look at his history, right? Fine, because last I checked, during Trump’s first term, no one was executed or jailed simply for opposing him. This is a crazy story from a guy who also claims that Trump, the candidate who agreed to all of Biden’s terms in the CNN debate, was actually terrified of debating Biden.
“I can’t believe I’m saying this. Trump is scared shitless,” Scarborough added. “He’s whining because he thinks Joe Biden is going to beat him badly.”
How did it go, Joe? Every poll has Trump winning the debate by a large margin. If it had been a fight, the umpire would have stopped it. The former president was in total control, showed discipline, and unleashed a scathing one-liner on Biden that night, without even a rehearsal, after Biden’s incoherent response to a question about border security, or lack thereof.
“I have no idea what he said at the end of that sentence. I don’t think he knows what he said,” Trump quipped.
For Scarborough, the White House’s unofficial chief of staff, now is not the time to take a break from work — and don’t tell me this is some sort of pre-planned vacation, because his wife, Mika, is supposed to be with him this morning, not hosting alone.

Frankly, MSNBC has had more than just credibility issues for some time. More than any other network, it has pushed the narrative around videos of Biden walking away from world leaders, as he did at the recent G7 in Italy, as a “cheap fake.” Scarborough went even further in defending Biden with this big cheese-filled lie.
“I’ve spent a great deal of time talking to Kevin McCarthy throughout my years and time with Biden in 2024, and there’s no comparison,” Scarborough argued. “Biden is far more astute, far more intellectually curious, and far more insightful about international affairs than any Republican Speaker of the House I’ve met in 30 years.”
Yes. And now, after the debate, Scarborough has done another 180 degree turn.
“if [Biden] “If he was a CEO and he performed like that, would any company in America, any Fortune 500 company in America, keep him as CEO?” he asked.
Scarborough was nowhere to be seen on Monday morning. Instead, Brzezinski hosted the show, kicking it off with what Mediaite described as “a 15-minute host-led election commercial defending Joe Biden.”

Double painful.
The Democratic Party is now divided. As it stands, Donald Trump is leading in all battleground states. Polls released this weekend show that: New Jersey. Trump is tied in states like Minnesota, Virginia, New Hampshire and Maine, which haven’t seen Republican support in decades.
While all this is happening, Biden is out for another long unpaid weekend.
His top TV adviser, Mr Scarborough, has apparently decided to do the same.
