Mary Carlson (@marycarlson3) uploaded a video of someone at her table requesting a blue steak. “The manager didn’t know how to cook!” Blue! “The text overlay in the video reads.
A Texas Roadhouse employee stands at a table with a plate of meat. The steak cut is clearly raw.
“Is this OK?” the estimation manager asks, and the customer says yes.
“So what’s the temperature?” the worker asks. The patron responded that he wanted “blue.”
What is blue steak?
When ordering beef, especially steak, there are many different ways the meat can be prepared. Restaurants typically serve rare, medium-rare, medium, medium-well, and well-done. Blue steak is at the lower end of that spectrum. It is said to be a “super rare” steak. According to Web restaurant storeBlue steak is only lightly seared on the outside. This means that the cooking time is very short.
There are several steps you need to take to cook blue steak to get the correct temperature and texture. First, the meat must be out of the refrigerator long enough to reach room temperature (usually 70 degrees Fahrenheit). Next, you need to season it.
Then grill the steak using a “high-temperature grill.” A few seconds on each side is enough. After this, let the steak rest for a while before serving.
Finally, cooks can use a meat thermometer to assess the internal temperature of the steak. The internal temperature should be between 115 and 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
If done correctly, a blue steak should look burnt on the outside and “almost raw” on the inside.
viewers were confused
Viewers couldn’t understand why anyone would want a blue steak from a chain restaurant like Texas Roadhouse. One viewer even called it “crazy.”
“Hey, we’re at a roadhouse in Texas,” said another.
Additionally, there seemed to be some confusion as to what was actually happening within the video. Some commenters thought the cut of meat the Texas Roadhouse employee was holding was the meal itself. However, a follow-up comment confirmed by the TikToker indicated that this was not the case.
“I think he’s showing him the cut and then asking him how to prepare,” one person said. Carlson admitted, “Yeah!”
One former Texas Roadhouse employee said he thought ordering blue steak was a bad idea. They further elaborated on this by sharing their own experiences of providing rare meat to their customers. “I worked at a roadhouse and there was a time when people wanted steaks so rare that they refused to cook them unless the manager said they weren’t responsible if they got sick.” they said.
Is blue steak safe to eat?
Meat lovers agree that when cooked properly, blue steak is protected from potentially harmful bacteria. this The recipe blog describes it as “high heat.” This method of cooking instantly kills any bacteria that may remain on the surface of the meat. These bacteria can include E. coli and other pathogens that can cause food poisoning.
In addition, the quality of the cut of meat is also a factor. Blue steak is considered a safe cooking option as long as the establishment provides properly stored meat to customers.
But it is precisely these reasons that customers are so concerned. This customer has full trust in the Texas Roadhouse chefs to cook the blue steak properly and in the fact that the chain offers high-quality meat.
