In the digital age where there are apps for everything, you would think that banking would be easier. Unfortunately for Wells Fargo customers, keeping cash inside the bank is apparently no longer a service they offer.
When Chelsea Segal (@chelseachanel67) went to Wells Fargo to do some basic banking, she discovered that the bank was no longer offering the service and had suspended other services. After that, I turned to TikTok to vent. The video has been viewed 11,600 times at the time of publication.
Segal filmed the clip after visiting Wells Fargo, revealing the underlying wrinkles in modern banking. He deposited the check and cash, and when he went to Wells Fargo to open another account, Mr. Segal was told he could not deposit cash. Confused, she asked the bank teller why she couldn’t, and she was told, “We can’t accept cash anymore because of rampant counterfeiting.”
Mr. Segal, frustrated that Wells Fargo no longer lets him deposit cash at the counter, responded: There are multiple ways to check if something is fake. Does that mean I can go to an ATM and deposit cash, but I can’t take it inside? ”
Segal, the current account holder, then tried to open a new account, only to be told that he could not do so either. When I asked why, I was told, “I can’t open it right now.”
“I’m changing banks again because it’s just ridiculous to have to go through multiple steps. She said if I wanted to deposit money in cash, I could go get a cashier’s check or a money order. I said I would have to go and deposit it inside the bank,” Segal explained, adding, “What?”
Many viewers suggested new banks.
“It’s time to make a change. It’s awful,” said one.
“I need a better bank. Chase has never refused to accept cash from me,” a second man agreed.
Some criticized Wells Fargo, citing a number of recent scandals.
“You need to get the money out of there! I’ve heard so many horror stories about them…I’ve seen a guy who went through the same thing!” a commenter advised.
Meanwhile, some Wells Fargo customers were confused as to why they couldn’t deposit cash.
“I deposited cash into my Wells Fargo account last week. Funny they said no,” a viewer wrote.
It is unclear why Segal was unable to complete the deal.according to wells fargothe company accepts cash deposits from account holders and authorized signatories.
However, this isn’t the first time Wells Fargo has been in the news for negative interactions with customers. In 2016, it was revealed that bankers had generated millions of dollars. fake account in the customer’s name without the customer’s knowledge. In addition, Wells Fargo was ordered to pay $3.7 billion following banking allegations violationincluding illegal overdraft fees.
The Daily Dot reached out to Wells Fargo via email and Segal via Instagram direct message for further comment.
