PHOENIX — The Arizona Department of Transportation announced that the westbound lanes of Interstate 10 near 7th Avenue in Phoenix have reopened after being closed Tuesday night.
However, the eastbound lanes remained closed as of 8:30 p.m.
Phoenix police said the closure began after authorities received a report of a man climbing the Interstate 10 bridge near 7th Avenue.
“Negotiations began after the highway was closed and troops cordoned off the area,” said Sgt. Brian Bower said. KTAR News 92.3 FM. “During negotiations, the man fell from the overpass onto the highway and was seriously injured.”
The man was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Phoenix police and DPS will still keep the eastbound lanes closed while detectives investigate the incident, Bower said.
All eastbound Interstate 10 traffic must exit at 7th Avenue, ADOT said.

No date has been set for when the eastbound lanes will reopen.
