Wayne Osmond, an original member of the musical “The Osmonds,” passed away on New Year’s Day at the age of 73.
ABC4 announced his death, citing a family spokesperson. “His legacy of faith, music, love and laughter has touched the lives of many people around the world. , and we want everyone to know that banana splits are the best dessert. We love him and will miss him very much.”
No reason was provided.
Wayne has been a member of the Osmonds since the group’s inception as a Disneyland barbershop quartet in the ’60s. Along with brothers Alan, Merrill and Jay, the group built a following and eventually added younger brothers Donnie and Jimmy.
With Donnie’s addition to the group, the Osmonds enjoyed popular success, including their 1972 Top 10 album, Phase III, and hit singles such as #1. 1 blockbuster hits “One Bad Apple” (1970), “Yo-Yo” (1971), “Down by the Lazy River” (1972), and “Love Me for a Reason” (1974).
Osmond last performed with the group in 2019, when the band gathered to serenade his sister Marie in honor of her 60th birthday.

Wayne, survived by his wife and five children, was the first of the Osmond children to die.
He is also survived by his brothers, Ville and Tom, who were born mostly deaf and who never played in groups, and his singing brothers, Alan, Meryl, Jay, Donnie, Jimmy, and Marie.
Brother Jay mourned him. Instagram“A true legend has left Earth. My heart is deeply saddened by the loss of my brother Wayne. It is said that where there is great love, there is great sadness at separation on the earthly journey. Throughout my life, I have felt the closest to Wayne among my siblings, and he has been my roommate and best friend for decades. I can only imagine what it would be like to find out that he has earned his wings. He’s soaring to great heights right now I’m sure his reunion with his mom and dad was amazing! ”
