Revenge game:
Michael Lorenzen makes first start at home Phillies After Philadelphia acquired him on a trade deadline deal, detroit tigers, the no-hitter Washington Nationals gave four walks in a 124-pitch effort in a 7–0 win at Citizens Bank Park. Of the 319 pitchers who have achieved an official no-hitter, according to MLB, the next game will be the Phillies, as mentioned in the game notes for the series opener between the National League East rivals in the capital last night. Only 41 played against the same team. .
Ahead of the trip, Knots skipper Davey Martinez said he and his team are ready for the next round against the 31-year-old, nine-year veteran.
“When you go back and look at what he did,” Martinez told reporters. You don’t know — well, I’ve seen a lot, but I rarely see pitchers doing it. But we hit some balls hard, so hopefully we’ll have a good at bat today, we’re going to find some holes today but we’ll fight and we’ll will get the points of But the important thing is to try to go out and score early so that you can relax a little bit.
“We know today is his first day back since his no-hitter and no-run, so our team just went out and said, ‘I know what he did last time, but we had a good at-bat as well. I hope he says, “Let’s focus on the next game.'” Just strike and hit somewhere hard. ”
Lane-Thomas singled Lorenzen in the bottom of the first inning to relieve the pressure (if something happened), but then added a run against the Phillies starters with a double by Stone Garrett and an RBI by Jake Alou in the third inning.
The visiting team stole six from Nationals starter Joan Adon in the top of the fourth to give Lorenzen a five-point lead, but the home team struck back with a six in the bottom of the fourth. They quickly fought back to take a 7-6 lead and eventually won 8-7.
“I got better at bat,” Martinez said of the catalyst for the breakout inning.
“At that point, I knew Adon had been stretched for a long time.” [in the top of the fourth]. we were going to see the pitch. I tried to tell them to zone the ball and see some throws. ”
“We were just trying to get the ball up a little bit by swinging for a strike,” the manager said about the result. “And they did it. Stay on the ball. We try to stay in the middle of the field and they’ve done it. He’s got a good changeup and he’s really good We’ve got stuff, we’ve got good sinkers, but we’ve done a much better job just trying to stay in the middle of the field.”
The Nationals are the first team since 2001 to score seven or more points against a no-hitter pitcher in their last start, according to MLB.com’s Jessica Camerto, citing information from Elias Sports. It is said that it became

“It felt good,” Martinez said of their similar reaction after Lorenzen’s historic shot. “Like I said, I was proud of them, really. They were ready.
“We had a game plan. For a while we were like, ‘Wow, he’s got some good stuff,’ but we put the ball up, put him in the zone, and got some balls. I hit hard.”
Pickle Juice?:
The Nationals worked closely with the 25-year-old to start last night’s game against the Phillies after Joan Adon has been plagued with leg cramps in the first two games of his return to the majors this season.
“They’ve been really serious with him all week,” manager Davey Martinez said of all the time coaches spent with the pitcher to make sure it didn’t happen again.
“I hope I have no problems today,” Martinez added. “…and the biggest thing for him is to come out and make it through the first inning just fine, and we’ll go from there.”
One solution suggested by the manager was pickle juice. Pickle juice? yes it’s pickle juice.
“We’re going to give it to him here soon,” Martinez said before last night’s victory.
“We’re going to give it to him. I told him yesterday, ‘You’re drinking that pickle juice.'”
Adon…wasn’t thrilled with the prospect of drinking a little.
Martinez said he was told to drink about two fingers.
“He was looking at me like, ‘Oh, oh,'” Martinez said. “Still he will figure it out.”
The manager said it’s something he’s done in his 16-year career in the majors.
“That’s how I first heard it,” he said. “I thought, ‘Come on,’ but I tried it and it was really hot and muggy. Today wasn’t too bad. I should be fine today, but I tried it and it worked. “
Was the manager going to drink it with Adon…meaning unity?
“If he wants me, I will. I will take one for the team,” Martinez said.
There was no follow-up after the match to ask Martinez what he was doing (Alternatively, Adon allowed six hits, two walks and six earned runs in four innings of 74 pitches in an 8-7 victory for Washington.) actually drank pickle juice.
