A Vietnam-era veteran from Massachusetts can call himself lucky for the rest of his life after winning the $25,000 annual lottery six times in his lifetime.
Fall River’s Raymond Roberts Sr. matched the first five numbers of the six Lucky for Life lottery tickets he purchased last week.
According to the Massachusetts Lottery, he used a combination of his anniversary and birthday as his number. This is the same one he has used in his lottery for over 20 years.
“Roberts cited ‘gut feeling’ as the reason for buying multiple tickets with the same number,” the lottery said.
Roberts chose the $390,000 cash option for five prizes, totaling $1.95 million before tax. He chose the annuity option for his sixth award and received his $25,000 pre-tax annual payment twenty times.
Roberts plans to use part of his winnings to buy a motorcycle, according to the lottery.
A win for Roberts would mean a windfall profit of more than six times the store where he bought his winning ticket.
