The Orlando Light Rail Coalition and Universal Orlando Resort announced Thursday the creation of the Single Creek Transit Utility Community Development. Under the Community Development District Plan, Universal will fund the project $125 million through bonds and contribute $2 million annually for station maintenance and operations. Additionally, the resort will donate 13 acres of land to build the station. Together with a coalition of business owners along International Drive, it helps the district insure $13 million in annual ticket sales for the Sunshine Corridor (the estimated annual cost of running the rail line).
