Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, the Democratic vice presidential candidate, boasted in a letter unearthed by Fox News Digital that his state hosts several top Chinese leaders.
In celebration of the school’s 10th Lunar New Year anniversary, Minnesota International Chinese School featured the 2021 Letter from Waltz on its YouTube channel.
“Minnesota has a long-standing relationship with the people of China.” Walz said in the letter: “The state has fostered Minnesota’s ties to China and hosted many senior Chinese leaders over the decades. Thousands of Minnesotans claim ancestral ties to China. “It has helped foster numerous ties between Minnesota and China.”
He added that “these ties are growing rapidly through expanded education, trade and investment opportunities between our countries,” and congratulated the school on “a very important milestone”, adding that “it is a great opportunity for language learners and “We are teaching future leaders the importance of speaking multiple languages.” Both language and being a global citizen. ”

The letter arrived within 10 days from Zhao Jian, the Chinese Consul General in Chicago, and recorded the following: 4 minute greeting in Chinese for schools, according to the school’s YouTube channel. The relationship between Walz and Jiang has come under scrutiny in recent weeks after the House Oversight Committee revealed a meeting between them earlier this year in which they discussed “China-U.S. relations and subnational cooperation.” .
Details of the meeting have not been disclosed, but 2022 report The Biden administration’s Director of National Intelligence (DNI)’s comments highlight how U.S.-based Chinese consulates, like the one Walz met with, play an “active role” in “foreign influence operations” on behalf of the Chinese Communist Party. He emphasized that “we are fulfilling our goals.”

Mr. Walz’s decades-long relationship with China has come back to haunt him since Vice President Harris selected him as the Democratic Party’s running mate. He briefly worked as a teacher in China and traveled to Guangdong in 1989 for an overseas education program teaching English and American history.
Walz was initially thought to have visited China dozens of times during his lifetime, but a campaign spokesperson later recanted that figure and claimed he had visited China about 15 times, including on his honeymoon in 1994.
“I live in China and, as I said, I’ve been there about 30 times. … I don’t fit into the category that China necessarily needs to be an adversary. I I don’t agree with that at all. I think we need to take a firm stand against what they’re doing in the South China Sea, but there are many areas of cooperation that we can work on,” Walz previously said. He said this in an interview with Communications.
He also defended the Chinese Communist Party system in a 1991 school lesson, saying it “means everyone is the same and everyone has something in common.”
“Doctors and construction workers make the same thing,” he continued. According to the Washington Free Beacon. “The Chinese government and their workplaces provide housing and 14 kg or about 30 pounds of rice each month. They have food and shelter.”

Looking back on his visit to China in 1990, Waltz said, “No matter how long I live, I will never be treated this well again. “He gave it to me,” a local news outlet said. It was a great experience,” Walz said, adding that he was “treated very well.”
Fox News Digital recently reported that a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) official said Harris’ decision to select Walz as her presidential nominee was linked to “activities” the People’s Republic of China was conducting with her. The report said he warned his colleagues about how he was “influencing.” and local governments,” he said, warning that the Chinese government could “target” him to influence U.S. policy.
“Walt’s [sic] “We’ve got the vice president,” the message said, with the sender’s identity redacted. “You guys are wondering how this will affect what the People’s Democratic Republic has been doing here with him and the local government. I don’t understand it at all.”
The official added: “This is a critical intelligence agency. They target people they think can go to Washington, D.C.”
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer said in a letter to Mr. Mayorkas on Tuesday that the committee is concerned about “the Chinese Communist Party’s targeting of politicians and its use of influence over state and national governments. “We are publishing the above message as an example of communications in DHS’ possession in which DHS officials have expressed concerns.” There are concerns about the Chinese Communist Party’s influence operations at the local level, particularly regarding Governor Walz. ”

Walz also has a long track record of working with companies labeled “Chinese military companies” by the Pentagon as well as Chinese officials with a controversial relationship with the Chinese Communist Party, a Minnesota-based medical research company. They are also under intense scrutiny regarding their relationships with institutions.
In 2014, Walz welcomed a delegation from China to the institute, including Wang Yanling, vice governor of Henan province and Communist Party doctor. Mr. Yanglin is said to have held several positions in the Chinese Communist Party over the decades.
