Ulta’s pay may not be great, but it does offer some great perks, said one employee who works at a beauty store for fun.
In the video, which has more than 490,000 views, TikTok user Emily (@emsinggg0) sits in her car and responds to a comment from a viewer asking about her salary.
“Ulta doesn’t pay a lot of money,” she tells her 18,000 followers.
For Emily, her job at Ulta is more of a “hobby.” She says the content creator just loves doing makeup and helping people. “I don’t work full time. I work part time, but working at Ulta also has perks,” she says.
She then showed off an orange Ulta plastic bag filled with “freebies.” Each month, content creators say they receive a bag full of free products “for free” to help them effectively support their customers. Next, we will reveal the products we got in January. First up is her favorite, Drunk Elephant, a full-sized proteini polypeptide her resurf serum. “This is probably the best free item I’ve ever received,” she said as she pulled the product out of her package. “It’s really big and really cool. It’s full size.”
After putting the product back in the box, I pick up the full size Kylie Setting Powder. She also received a hot pink Alix Earle makeup bag and a full size hair oil from OUAI. She also says she received her two Sunday Riley products: a small eye cream and a sulfur spot treatment mask. Emily concludes the video by showing off her Lush eyelash serum, Pink Slip on her hair tie, shampoo and conditioner tester in Benefit’s Hava Her Loop.

“My local Ulta pay is $12 an hour. But they have huge discounts,” one viewer shared.
“I work at ulta to get out of the house a few hours a day. Plus 25% off,” a second person also wrote.
“I’m the leader of Ulta! I work there for fun and profit too lol,” a third person commented.
Others, however, weren’t so lucky.
One user said, “I’ve worked at Ulta for 2 years and I’ve never worked for free.”
“I only made $21 an hour as a fleet manager, so I didn’t get much out of it.” [gratis] Because my store manager kept it all to himself,” another person recalled.
