UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak will pay a fine for not wearing a seatbelt while filming a video promoting the economy program on Friday.
The fine imposed by the Lancashire Police on a ’42-year-old man from London’ is about £100, or about $124, equivalent to a penny for a man whose net worth is greater than the King of England. If a lawsuit is filed, the fine could increase to £500, or around $620.
Snack had been in Lancashire to shoot the video as part of a trip across the north of England. He was trying to push the government’s latest appropriations bill. The bill was intended to help “level up” or improve facilities and infrastructure in key regions of the country.

A representative for the prime minister told the BBC that Mr Sunak “fully acknowledged and apologized that this was a mistake”, adding that he would indeed pay the fine.

Deputy Prime Minister Dominic Raab told BBC Breakfast that Snak “made a mistake with the seatbelt issue”.

Snak previously paid a fine for violating COVID-19 lockdown rules after attending then-Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s birthday gathering in Downing Street in June 2020.
