Many rideshare customers have different expectations during their rides. Some Uber and Lyft passengers prefer quiet rides, while others like to talk to their drivers. Most people, whether they like it or not, don’t want their driver to complain about their trip.
One Uber driver whined to a passenger that the rideshare app added him to his queue.
In a video posted to TikTok by @heartbreakkr1s, the poster says he was upset that the Uber driver didn’t interfere with his destination even though he had accepted the ride himself. .
In the video, the Uber driver tells the poster: “I’m going back and forth, doing a lot of things.” “I don’t need to go that way, I need to go this way. I have to go in that direction.”
The poster then wonders if one can simply choose not to take a ride that goes too far.
“Do you not accept rides?” the poster asks. “They don’t give you a choice?”
The driver then informed me that he could have canceled the ride but did not because the rideshare app added him and another passenger to the trip.
The Daily Dot contacted the poster via Instagram direct message and Uber via email regarding the video.
Some viewers said they received similar reactions from Uber drivers who didn’t realize where they were going when they agreed to be picked up.
“This happened to me and the driver canceled the ride and told me to give him $50 or get off,” one commenter wrote.
“One time, when the Uber driver tried to tell me to cancel and pay in cash, I said, no, I really need him to take me where I’m going,” another woman claimed. did.
A third wrote: “Same thing happened before.” “When I got in the car, the driver said he didn’t want to drive that way and dropped me off where he picked me up. Very strange.”
So, can Uber drivers see a passenger’s final destination before accepting a ride request?
Yes, it is possible according to the 2023 blog post On Uber’s website. Drivers can see the net amount earned by the ride and where passengers will pick up and drop off. However, it appears that this was not always the case. Reddit in 2022 post One customer revealed that the Uber driver was unable to confirm the final destination and canceled the ride after getting into the car.
