According to Khaleej Times, a brand new crescent-shaped project is being constructed on a hilltop in Sharjah’s Kalba area, which will offer panoramic views of the mountains, valleys and coast.
On Thursday, June 6, 2024, Aretihad English shared some photos of Sharjah Ruler Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi’s visit to the under-construction leisure spot.

Built about 850 metres above sea level on Jebel Deem, Gamam, which translates to “Above the Clouds”, will be a two-storey building: the ground floor will house an open-air cafe, restaurant and reading room, while the first floor will house an observation deck, prayer room and multi-purpose hall.
More than 4,500 trees, including olive, pomegranate, apple and grape vines, have been planted on the rocks to provide greenery for the upcoming new attractions.
The moon-shaped rest house project will reportedly also feature an open theatre and a children’s play area.
Nearby the project, a football stadium and a 100-room hotel will be built on the mountain. The ruler of Sharjah has previously stressed that the stadium, built 650 metres above sea level, will allow footballers to play in a humidity-free environment, said to be 10 degrees cooler than the city centre.
But this is not the first project to be built in Sharjah’s mountains: in 2021, Sharjah Ruler Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi inaugurated a project called Al Shuhab Rest Area, which rises 600 metres above the emirate’s city of Khor Fakkan.
