Matt Fitzpatrick is envy green, and normal green.
The 2022 U.S. Open winner won his first major at the country club of Brookline, Massachusetts, and cashed a pretty nice check in return. Last year’s event boasted the largest prize pool in tournament history, bringing his total prize pool to $17.5 million.
Fitzpatrick and the rest of the 156-player field teeing off at the Los Angeles Club this year will have a chance to win bigger prizes. The US Open is one of 11 traditional Tour events with a $20 million prize pool, so the field is aimed at bigger LIV-sized apple bites.

US Open Tournament Wallet 2023
On June 14, USGA President Mike Wang announced that the prize pool for the 2023 US Open will be $20 million.
That number surpasses the $17.5 million prize pool at the 2022 US Open, which Matt Fitzpatrick won in Massachusetts.
The $20 million prize pool is the highest of any three major tournaments already held in 2023. The Masters had $18 million in prize money, while the PGA Championship boasted $17.5 million in prize money. The British Open Championship purse has yet to be announced.
What is the prize money for the US Open winner?
The 2023 U.S. Open winner will take home a $3.6 million check, which is a little more than Matt Fitzpatrick’s $3.15 million winner’s check cashed in 2022.
According to the pay scale, second place will get a check for $2.18 million and third place will get a check for $1.38 million.
