The passenger has been rebooked for a later flight on Thursday. Airport officials say he is entering the spring break season for tourists, which begins in February and runs through April.
“We currently carry between 14 and 15,000 passengers a day,” said Mark Howell, spokesman for the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). “You can see he hits 22,000 at peak times.”
TSA officials recommend that travelers arrive in Lambert at least two hours before travel time. It also reminds you what you can and cannot bring through security.
“Small items such as oversized liquids and pocket knives slow things down at checkpoints,” Howell said. “Hundreds of pounds of contraband were found in the passengers’ bags.”

An exception to that rule is medical items. The TSA is also asking travelers to consider everyone’s safety.
“Most people have a self-defense item. It’s pepper spray, brass knuckles, or something that hangs from a key ring for self-defense,” Howell said. When it comes to points, people don’t think about having those things.”
The TSA says that if a gun is brought into security, you could face criminal charges, a $15,000 fine, and be removed from the flight.
“A record 6,572 guns passed through checkpoints across the country last year,” Howell said. “He was 96 in total here in St. Louis.”
On February 22, five guns were seized at a security checkpoint. As of 2023, Lambert has 16 seizures of him.
