Former President Donald Trump currently leads President Biden by 10 points among likely voters, according to a new poll.
A Washington Post/ABC poll released Sunday found that if the 2024 presidential election were held today, Mr. Trump would win 52% to 42% over Mr. Biden. Respondents also had a negative view of Biden’s age, as well as his handling of the economy and the U.S.-Mexico border.
But the Post downplayed its own poll results after it showed Trump with a commanding lead.
“Mr. Trump’s wide lead in this poll is a sharp departure from other polls that show the race is effectively a dead heat,” the newspaper wrote on Sunday. “The differences between this poll and other polls, and the unusual composition of the Trump-Biden coalition in this poll, suggest that this poll is likely an outlier.”

Meanwhile, according to a poll, Biden’s approval rating remains at 37%, but 56% of respondents actively disapprove of Biden becoming president.
Mr. Biden is also facing a crisis of confidence among members of his own party, with about 60% of Democratic and Democratic-leaning respondents saying they would prefer another candidate.

Critics cited Biden’s age, handling of the economy and the ongoing border crisis as problems with the Biden administration.
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s decision to launch an impeachment inquiry was also well-received in polls, with 58% of respondents saying Biden should be held accountable under the law like any other president. According to the poll, only 32% of people said they were being unfairly harmed.
Mr. Trump also holds a significant lead over Mr. Biden among young voters, with a 20 percentage point lead over Mr. Biden among voters under 35.
Rivals’ reactions to Trump’s indictment range from offers of legal aid to calls for racial retreat
But age remains one of the most unpopular factors in Biden’s re-election campaign. Seventy percent of respondents said Trump is too old to serve as president, but only 50% said the same about Trump.
At 80 years old, Biden is the oldest person to run for president of the United States, closely followed by Trump at 77. Mr. Biden will be 82 years old by the time he is sworn in for a second term.
