President Donald Trump refused directions on Thursday Ministry of Justice Orders the dismissal of New York City Mayor Eric Adams’ criminal prosecution.
Trump’s denial comes when top federal prosecutors in Manhattan in Washington, D.C. and five senior DOJ officials resigned on an order by the top DOJ officials to abandon the lawsuit against Adams.
“I didn’t,” Trump said at the White House when asked if he had requested a reporter be fired.
“I don’t know anything about it. I didn’t,” Trump added.
Emil Bove, a high-ranking DOJ official who ordered his fire, said Thursday that the DOJ will take over the lawsuit from the US Lawyer’s Office in the Southern District of New York. Bove previously represented Trump in the Manhattan State Court presidential detective hash money case, where he was convicted in a forgery trial of business records.
Bove also said the DOJ would file a motion in Manhattan federal court to dismiss the charges against Adams, who had favored Trump after being indicted last fall.
Daniel Sasson, a representation of the Southern District of New York, resigned after refusing to reject Bove’s order.
Sasson, a 38-year-old conservative, told Attorney General Pam Bondy in a letter Wednesday that she strongly opposed Bob’s order and its basis.
She also said in a meeting with Adams’ attorney that Bove “repeated the equivalent of Quid Pro” in which the mayor supported Trump’s immigration enforcement efforts in exchange for fire in the case.
“Mr. Bove warned members of my team who took notes during the meeting and oversaw those notes at the conclusion of the meeting,” Sasson wrote.
Sussone said her prosecutors are ready to seek the charges of Adams on additional charges related to alleged destruction of evidence, instructing others to do so, and provide false information to the FBI. He said.
“The idea that there was a Quid Pro is a complete lie,” Adams’ lawyer, Alex Spiro, said in a statement.
“The department didn’t ask us anything because we didn’t offer anything,” Spiro said.
However, within hours of Sassoon’s resignation, Adams announced he would sign an order that federal immigration officials would grant the Rikers Island Prison complex in New York City.
“This is a contract with the devil who is trying to roll back the long-standing sanctuary laws and policies of our city. It’s a policy that allows all New Yorkers to live freely while improving public safety for everyone.” In a statement.
“Eric Adams has no integrity,” Awawdeh said. “He conspired to detain the Trump administration’s deportation pipeline in exchange for the Justice Department, which promises to boost the five-count federal corruption charges against him.”
Sassoon told Bove that the prosecution team responsible for Adams’ lawsuit agreed to her decision not to dismiss the lawsuit, according to a harsh letter Bove sent Thursday.
Bove of the letter said the prosecutors on that team were placed on administrative leave pending investigations by Attorney General Pam Bondy and the DOJ’s Specialist Responsibility Office to determine whether they should be fired or disciplined. .
The matter was reassigned to DOJ acting chief John Keller after Sassoon refused to dismiss the case Thursday Public Integrity Sectionwho then refused to dismiss the lawsuit and left, NBC reported.
The Public Integrity Section oversees cases involving bribery of civil servants.
Kevin Driscoll, the chief of the proxy DOJ Criminal Division, also resigned Thursday after refusing to accept the Adams case.

The criminal case against Adams had not been dismissed as of Thursday afternoon.
Adams was charged in September by a large ju trial in the United States District Court in Manhattan on charges related to bribery, fraud and decades of campaign contribution schemes.
On Monday, Bove ordered Sasson to dismiss the case against Adams.
In a letter to Sussone Thursday, Bove admitted that she resigned and refused to comply with the orders.
“This decision is based on your choice to continue pursuing politically motivated prosecution despite the explicit instructions to dismiss the case,” Bobe wrote.
“You oath you took when you started at the Department of Justice by suggesting that you retain discretion to interpret the constitution in a way that is inconsistent with the policies of a democratically elected president and the Senate accused Attorney General. I lost sight of it,” wrote Bove.

According to Bove’s letter, he said, “based on grounded concerns about weaponization, election interference, and obstacles that the cases have placed on their ability to govern and cooperate with new law enforcement agencies and cooperate with new law enforcement agencies. He says he has directed Sassoon to dismiss Adams’ prosecution. York City Safe.”
The letter states that “Adams’ DOJ investigation has been “accelerated” after Mayor Adams publicly criticised President Biden’s failed immigration policies.
“Based on my review and our meeting, the 2024 presidential election is approaching, and the decision to file accusations is rushed, and former US lawyers have a potential politics at the event where Kamala Harris won that election. It appears to be pursuing an appointment,” Bove wrote.
Sassoon told SDNY staff in an email that he “sometimes ago, I submitted my resignation to the Attorney General.”
“As I told her, it was my greatest honor to represent the United States and pursue justice as a prosecutor in the Southern District of New York. It is the privilege to be your colleague, and I am. I look with pride. You will continue to serve the United States.”
Sasson was the lead prosecutor in the fraud and conspiracy trials of Sam Bankmanfried, the former head of the failed cryptocurrency exchange FTX. Bankmanfried was sentenced to prison in March last year.
