What is an NFL Franchise Tag?

What are exclusive and non-exclusive franchise tags?
Dedicated tag In other words, the contract must be equal to or greater than the average of the top five salaries in that player’s position or 120% of that player’s previous season’s salary, whichever is greater. Also, players are not allowed to negotiate with other teams, and if they decline an offer, they will not be able to sign with another team.
Non-exclusive tag In other words, the contract cannot be less than the average of the top 5 cap hits in that player’s position or 120% of that player’s previous season’s salary, whichever is greater. However, unlike exclusive tags, players can negotiate with other teams, and if they receive an offer, their current team may be a match. Entitled to two first-round draft picks.

Players can also negotiate with other teams, and will not receive a draft pick if the first team refuses to match the offer.
