GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — In this “Giveaway,” hear about election security and how states use tax dollars for economic investments.
First, Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson will talk about making sure Michigan’s elections are secure.
“We are working with clerks, law enforcement, and first responders to basically plan for several scenarios and any potential scenarios that could occur before the election, during early voting, on Election Day or during vote counting. “We try to talk about scenarios, so we’re ready,” she said.
Next, Michigan House Republican Leader Matt Hall questions where taxpayer money is being spent on corporate incentives.
“I looked at it and said it’s a deal with Marshall. We gave them $1.7 billion for what used to pay $48,000 a year for 2,400 jobs. Do the math. “And it was like $725,000 apiece. That’s a bad deal,” he said.
To help you stay safe with your elections and your taxes, we’ll be talking about both episodes of this “Gist” over the weekend of April 13th.
