A TikToker named Deon (@deon.k.washington) posted a free DoorDash food “hack”.
In the clip, Deon records a rush into the car with a text overlay that reads:

In the video’s caption, he adds:
Various DoorDash hacks are prevalent on the web, especially TikTok. Wondersher, @simonfraser_said he’s effectively making a few bucks for himself whenever he decides to buy food from the restaurant where he lives directly above By ordering through DoorDash. He then accepts himself the delivery of the order, getting paid from the application in the process. It’s probably a small amount because it’s close to a restaurant, but he makes free money every time he orders a meal for himself.
In terms of stealing food directly, there is another common scam, 2022 Reddit PostBasically, people order from the app and pick it up themselves by pretending to be a DoorDash driver. This is the same as Deon suggested in his TikTok above. The difference, however, is that the crooks in question are “taking” their own food. The driver assigned to the order did not have a meal to deliver to the customer, so the order was not fulfilled and the scammer could file a complaint on her DoorDash and say the food was not received or was delivered late. increase. Delivery took too long in the first place resulting in a free meal.
Many speculate that DoorDash “flagged” it, so it’s hard to imagine someone being able to consistently run this scam. Accounts constantly looking for refunds or meal credits.
The Daily Dot reached out to Deon via comments on TikTok and an email via DoorDash for more information.
Other TikTok users who saw Deon’s post said they had tried the technique in the past and were successful in removing the trash from other customers who ordered and paid.
For example, user @elledubx2 wrote: I went to Chipotle and did this. There was also a cooler bag. Sorry Ciara, but it was good.”
Some quipped that this might be the reason their food didn’t arrive in the first place, but when merchants usually look at Dasher’s phone and ask them to make sure they’re really the person they should be. Some people said… I’ll take the order.
As one user wrote, “until you say, ‘Show me your phone.'”
