Former TikTok employee Simona (@simonacruzer) posted a TikTok from her last day of work that has now gone viral. In her video, after joking that she plans to quit her job with “company assets,” she takes viewers on a short tour of New York City’s Times Square office complex. I will go.

“I was fired, so please come with me to steal company assets from TikTok,” Simona begins in the clip.
The video cuts to Simona walking through a hall that looks like it could fit on the set of Blade Runner 2049, then cuts to her dancing in front of two separate bathroom mirrors.
The bathroom was an irreplaceable explosion. Truth be told, I never thought of you as irreplaceable in the corporate world.
“I had to change this view one last time because you know how much I love the Empire State,” Simona says, showing the New York City skyline before turning into a room filled with colorful lights. Move to . “And this fun auditorium area. This is information, so please do not share it with anyone.
The “assets” she refers to are rows of various portion-sized snacks, candies, chips, instant noodles, macaroni cheese, chocolate bars, and other goodies.
“But I worked here, so I had mine rightfully,” continues TikToker. “I gave most of it to the subway guy, but it doesn’t matter.”
She records herself filling her wallet with snacks before finally closing her Macbook and placing her ID on it.
“I had to give them back to IT. I keep my TikTok straps,” she exclaims. It’s the least you can do.”
Then she walks out the exit turnstile, revealing a huge floor-to-ceiling glass hallway that reflects Times Square’s bright lights and digital billboard advertising in all its glory.
In a follow-up video, Simona explained the nature of the layoffs, saying that she actually received news that her original contract with the company had ended, and that she had spent the past 30 days searching for internal roles she could apply for within TikTok. And hopefully secure a position.

She said the 30-day grace period helped her get a little “padding time” to find another job and didn’t have to turn in her ID badge and work directly on her laptop. , said he felt compelled to do so. Doing so helped give her some closure anyway, plus it was an opportunity to pack some snacks in her purse.
TikTok, a China-based company, appears to be experiencing many of the same tech layoffs that have been affected. US-based technology company Recently Meta, Google, Microsoft, Amazon, etc.not yeton another TikTok, Simona said he doesn’t yet believe the company is doing mass layoffs.
The Daily Dot reached out to TikTok via email, and Simona asked for more information via a comment on TikTok.
Viewers who watched Simona’s video praised her for winning so many goodies on the final day, but a company that clearly has a lot of money to run a fancy office space I couldn’t comprehend that I was being forced to lay off an employee.
“They have to spend a lot of money on offices and then lay people off,” said one commenter.
Another said he’s seen a lot of open positions lately, which led him to believe that the mass tech layoffs happening in the US haven’t affected TikTok.
“I didn’t know TikTok was doing layoffs too. They had a ton of job openings for my position a week ago,” one user wrote.
Some believed that Simona’s dismissal had more to do with corporate greed than shrewd financial planning.
