Go to Pinterest. We have some serious home hacking skills that will blow your mind. These hacks will make your life easier and save you money. Who doesn’t like that?
1- pasta lighter
If the candle is burning all the way to the bottom of the container and you can’t easily reach the wick, light the spaghetti. It’s long enough to reach the bottom of the candle, so you don’t have to worry about getting burned.
2- Ceramic mug as grinding wheel
Most ceramic coffee mugs have a flat, unglazed bottom that is perfect for sharpening scissors or blunt blades.
Simply move the blade to the bottom of the mug at a 45 degree angle and work from one end of the blade to the tip. Then slide the blade down in one direction. Make sure your fingers do not get in the way when doing this.
3- Use isopropyl alcohol to revive the sharpie
This method can be applied differently to different felt-tip markers, but I’ll use a Sharpie as an example for this hack.
Remove the nib from the pen and apply a few drops of isopropyl alcohol to the felt material inside the pen. Shake the marker to make sure the alcohol is absorbed.
4- magnetized drill
If you’re worried about losing screws while working on a DIY project, this hack is for you. Some power drills are equipped with a magnetic plate in the base for exactly this purpose, but if not, there are hacks for that.
Simply hot glue the rare earth magnet to the back of the drill base and stick the screws while you work.
5- Write a note on the washing machine
When doing laundry for the whole family, it can be difficult to remember which items to put in the dryer, which items to put in the cold water, and so on. There is a trick to solve it.
Get some whiteboard markers and make a list above the washing machine. The enamel finish on most washing machines resembles a dry erase board, so you can wipe it down with a rag or paper towel when you’re done washing.
6 – Fix wobbly furniture with a penny
If you’re in trouble and want to quickly fix your wobbly furniture, look no further than a coin purse.
Attach coins to the unstable areas using hot glue and add additional coins as needed. Coins are great because they come in different sizes and thicknesses and can be applied to different types of furniture.
7- Erase the permanent marker on the whiteboard
When accidents happen, permanent markers can be mistaken for whiteboard markers.
Thankfully, fixing this mistake is easy. Simply color over the permanent marker with a dry erase marker and wipe off.
8- Easily find lost items
Dropping pills and earrings on fluffy carpets can be a nuisance. Luckily, there’s a hack for that.
Just use the vacuum cleaner! Take a piece of nylon, stretch it along the opening of the vacuum and secure it with a rubber band. Then run the vacuum cleaner over the carpet and the dropped items will stick to the nylon.
9- Apply car wax to the snow shovel
If you live in a snowy environment, you probably have to deal with the task of shoveling your car every day. However, large chunks of snow can cling to the shovel and make it unwieldy, hindering progress significantly.
Just apply car wax to the shovel. Snow slides off quickly. This method works best with a metal shovel.
10- Open the key ring using staple remover
The staple remover has perfectly sized tines that fit snugly in tight spaces on your keyring. Everyone has broken at least one nail while trying to pry open a stubborn ring. Save time and expensive manicures with this clever hack.
11- DIY ice pack
If you have a habit of losing ice packs, this hack is for you. These DIY ice packs are eco-friendly as they are reusable.
Take some kitchen sponges and place them in a bowl of water. Submerge completely before transferring to a sandwich-sized bag.
12- Save your phone charger
If your phone charger starts to wear out, try this easy hack. First, remove the spring from the pen. Stretch one end of the spring to fit around the charging cable. Wrap the spring around the charging cable until it rests on the charging cable.
Then use the appropriately sized heat shrink tubing to slip over the phone charger and springs. Use a lighter to heat it around the charger and spring until it blends in.
13. Remake dirty white shoes
A toothbrush and toothpaste are your best friends for this hack. Gel-free white toothpaste is great for cleaning old, dirty rubber soles.
Use a toothbrush to rub the toothpaste into the shoe and allow the toothpaste to soak in for 10 minutes. Wipe off with a damp towel and reapply if necessary.
14 – Remove gum from carpet
With this trick, you can remove gum from your carpet without messing it up.
Fill a sandwich bag with ice and place it on top of the gum. When the gum freezes, it becomes brittle and breaks apart easily. Let the bag of ice sit for 30 minutes, then crack open the bag and remove it from the carpet.
15. Unclog drains with coffee
Whether your kitchen sink doesn’t drain or your bathtub is clogged, this hack is for you. Pour coffee grounds, dish soap, and hot water into the drain. Problem solved!
