The same cloud-hosted service discovery system outage on March 8 was responsible for both Spotify and Discord experiencing two of the top three worst outages this year. Meta’s WhatsApp caused his second most serious outage this year.
Downdetector ranked the outages based on the number of reports they saw. Spotify overtook WhatsApp with over 2.9 million on nearly 20,000 reports.
Taylor Swift also received an honorable mention from Down Detector for disrupting Spotify with the launch of her album Midnights and the November 15 Ticketmaster outage.
