It may not have been a Sputnik moment, but Americans were shaken when they woke up to the news that a Chinese surveillance balloon was flying over them and violating US airspace. Their concern deepened when they learned that this was not the first time. Beijing uses similar aerostats to monitor U.S. military installations in Guam and Hawaii, and possibly a strategic early warning site in Canada.
Even more shocking is the response of the US government. The Biden administration apparently failed to explain what was happening and how to respond appropriately. If this was just a disappointment, you might be tempted to shrug him off and go back to your morning coffee. But here a nasty pattern emerges.
China is the greatest strategic threat facing the United States. Defending our homeland is Washington’s greatest responsibility. If you don’t believe me, read President Biden’s National Defense Strategy. It says so there.
This raises an uncomfortable question. What’s going on with strategic intelligence under Biden, especially when it comes to reading China?
Prepare for greater disaster if Chinese spy balloon escapes US airspace
Biden’s Bad Balloon Day wasn’t a one-time thing. Let’s review some of his other China-Intel missteps.
5. COVID where?
It’s been over two years since “COVID-19” entered our everyday vocabulary, and we still don’t have a clear answer to this question. What was China’s role in releasing the virus to the world? After years of denial, some US officials now admit the virus likely leaked from a Chinese lab .
China’s spy balloon shows country preparing citizens for war that could come ‘at any moment’: expert
Thank you, but many people understood that in 2020. Now you would think the government would tell us all about the origin and spread of the disease.
I may not, and I may not. Either way, it’s a disgrace.
4. Number of nuclei?
How many nuclear weapons does China have? The US government won’t tell us. Maybe it’s because they don’t know.
Pentagon warns China will more than triple its nuclear warheads by 2035
Intelligence agencies will tell you that China is rapidly expanding its strategic force and that Beijing will match or even exceed Russia’s nuclear arsenal. we too. It’s not an Intel coup. Analysts using open source (uncategorized) documents and reports have been saying that for years.
3. Will China invade Taiwan?
Intelligence agencies have not conducted a consensus assessment on this rather important issue. I’ve seen many dates thrown around, but looking through these analyses, there’s no explanation for how they came up with the dates.
Chinese ships and aircraft appear in Taiwanese waters and airspace
2. Invasion of Ukraine?
Looking back, it is absolutely clear that Beijing gave the go-ahead to a Russian invasion. Did you know that before the Russian invasion? If so, why didn’t you call Beijing?? Now that we know that, why isn’t Washington making a big deal out of it?
1. Falling objects from Hunter’s laptop?
We all know that hunter laptops were hunter laptops. And we know Hunter had a lot of dealings with China. So where is the intelligence agency’s assessment of the national security risks that may have been exposed?
Ratcliffe: Hunter Biden’s laptop was a partisan domestic ‘disinformation campaign’
Didn’t the community create it? If not, it’s cheating. If so, where is it? If they did it and had no problem, you would think it would be on the front page of the Washington Post.

If they find some and withhold that information… well, that’s no comfort either.
If you connect all these dots, you won’t get a pretty picture. Are U.S. intelligence agencies failing to collect and assess critical information about the greatest threats to our security, or are they refusing to share their conclusions?

Is it too important to share, is there nothing to share, or is it politically inconvenient to share?
None of these answers are very comforting about Biden’s intelligence agency stewardship.
