Merriam-Webster’s word of the year for 2024 is “polarization,” which he defines as “the split into two distinctly opposite poles.” (This word trumped “brain rot,” but I doubt whether it ever did so among dictionary staff.)
In fact, it’s been the word of the year since at least 2016, when President-elect Trump won for the first time and the left went into overdrive.
Dictionary Country’s left-handed staffers couldn’t bear to be trumped and started playing with words almost immediately after his victory. Even NPR noted in 2017 that “Merriam-Webster Dictionary has been trolling Trump on Twitter for months.”
The company’s wordplay is part of a larger left-wing strategy to invent new words and redefine existing terms to fit a liberal narrative. Over the past few years, we’ve seen repeated examples of “person giving birth,” “Latinx,” and most recently “woman.”
CNN host wonders if Democrats should rescind ‘Latin’ framework
The Scripps National Spelling Bee, D-Embarrassment, has released its third grade vocabulary list for its 100th anniversary contest. And it includes “womyn” as an alternative spelling for the actual word “women.” Unsurprisingly, according to a Scripps spokesperson, “All words used in the Scripps National Spelling Bee program are taken from our official dictionary, the Merriam-Webster Complete Dictionary.”
Consider me shocked. (Adjective: suffering from sudden mental or emotional turmoil.) But it’s actually just propaganda. Even Lefty’s Urban Dictionary defines the word “woman” as “a term used by feminists who feel that the inclusion of the word ‘man’ within the word ‘woman’ makes women a subset of men.” ” explains. (Scripps also approved “Bazaar” as an alternative to Bazaar, which is totally weird.)
Even more controversial than that spin is the attempt to eliminate mothers from our language to appease transgender extremists. In July 2022, the NEA, the liberal union of teachers who hate America, considered changing its language. They wanted to throw out the word “mother” and replace it with “birth parent.” “Father” was supposed to change to “parent who does not give birth.” Because real parents, mothers and fathers, don’t like what the NEA is doing to their children.

That plan failed. Even the NEA must have realized how insane this was.
A month later, the AP Stylebook said, “Using phrases like “pregnant person” or “person seeking an abortion” should be used when you want to include people who have experienced such experiences but do not identify as women. is permissible.”
That and all other kinds of weirdness have been accepted by so-called science. Everything from substituting “breastfeeding” for breastfeeding to urging staff to “avoid unnecessary sexist language” can be found on the NIH website. Employees must “substitute all or all for men and women and distinguished guests and nationals for ladies and gentlemen.” The NIH seeks to put these words into the mouths of others, providing instructions by posting a prominent link to the AP Stylebook on its site.
The liberal media defended and defended this nonsense. And it still is. CNN wrote, “This is an example of saying ‘pregnant person’ or other gender-inclusive expressions.” The gender-inclusive phrase mentioned in this article was “penis owner.” (I’ll have to write my own jokes about this. I like being hired, so I wrote a few and deleted them.) The network published that article in May 2024.
Three big reasons why the liberal news media lost the presidential election. that’s natural
You might think that the left would be tired of such empty words, but that’s not the case. Look at that stupid word Latinx. Liberals created the word because they disliked the fact that Spanish had gendered words for men and women and wanted a gender-neutral term to describe people of Spanish or Latin American descent. But despite years of effort, Pew Research found in September that “4% of Latinx adults say they have used Latinx to describe themselves; There has been little change from the 3% who responded.
Rather than give up, lefties simply try out a new fake term. In April, Axios wrote that “Latin is the new Latin.” That’s like saying Vice President Kamala Harris is the new Michael Dukakis. That’s not particularly complimentary on either side of the comparison.
The article states, “The term ‘Latinx’, a gender-neutral way to describe or refer to people of Latinx heritage, has surged in popularity on college campuses, museums, and among researchers and media. “There is,” he claimed.

There are actually no Hispanics or Latinos among the groups mentioned here. All of them are just ivory towers for elite lefties. So who do they cite as experts? Monica Trasandes, “GLAAD Director of Spanish Language Media and Representation” – Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation.
Let’s talk about not being able to read a room, an election, or even a dictionary.
And ironically, the article itself was published in Axios Latino. Not Axios Latine or Latinx.

The left’s push to use bad language reminds me of how great wordsmith Susie Dent described it. She calls herself “That Woman in the Dictionary Corner” and regularly posts obscure, centuries-old terms. One of her quotes of the day in August was: “‘Podnappian’ (from Charles Dickens): a winking, self-congratulatory person who thinks others should see things the same way you do. I am confident.”
That sounds like the last word to me. This aptly describes the grammar thugs on the left.
