Everyone who wants to live a long and healthy life wants to know the magic secret to doing so. Unfortunately, it’s not that easy, but there are some things you can do to improve your chances.

But it’s hard to know exactly what foods to eat to live longer. Shiue says you don’t have to be perfect, but it’s important to eat plenty of “whole foods like whole grains, vegetables, fruits, fish, eggs and nuts.” That way, she says, you can eliminate “ultra-processed foods” from your diet, like “preserved foods with refined carbohydrates and high sugar content, like white bread.”
But even if you know which foods are good for you, it can be hard to find the right balance of healthy choices that will increase your chances of living a long life. And when you have a sweet tooth craving, it can be hard to find something that’s good for you, too.
