Team USA men’s gymnastics pommel horse specialist Steven Nedorosic is a bespectacled hero who has captured hearts and inspired countless memes.
“Extra” caught up with “Today”‘s Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie as they covered the 2024 Paris Olympics, with A-listers packed into the stands.
Tom Cruise, Lady Gaga, Nick Jonas, Nicole Kidman and Serena Williams have all been spotted cheering on the players, but Nedorosic is perhaps the biggest star so far.
His flawless performance earned the men’s team a bronze medal, ending a 16-year medalless streak in the team event and creating a buzz online.
“This is the only event he has, he just trains for it and this was his moment,” Hoda said.
Savannah added, “And it doesn’t help that he looks like Clark Kent!”
Nedorosic, also known as “the pommel horse man,” made headlines when he was spotted sitting on the sidelines for nearly three hours before his performance began.
While waiting for the big moment, Steven could be seen napping, playing charades, honing his problem-solving skills with a Rubik’s Cube, and cheering on his teammates.

He just sits there until he’s activated like an undercover agent, then he takes off his glasses like Clark Kent, does his pommel horse routine, and brings the team their first medal in 16 years.”
After his performance, Stephen told People magazine, “I think that was the best moment of my life.” [I’m] I was really happy to be there.”
