Taylor Swift has released a music video for her song “Fortnite” to celebrate the release of her new album, “The Tortured Poets Department.”
“Fortnite” is the first song on the album and features Grammy Award-winning artist Post Malone.
Swift directed the music video, which also featured Dead Poets Society actors Ethan Hawke and Josh Charles.
The video begins with Swift looking at herself in a mirror in a psychiatric ward-like setting. When she goes to wipe her face, her face tattoo is revealed and it seems as if she is paying homage to Post Malone and his tattoo.
Interestingly, Post Malone covers up his facial tattoos in some of the videos where he plays the role of a girlfriend.
In the video, Hawke and Charles play scientists or doctors who check Swift’s vitals before administering shock therapy. The therapy session goes awry and Posty saves Swift by pulling the plug.
The video ends with Posty reaching out to Taylor, who is sitting on a phone booth in the rain.
A few years ago, Taylor danced in the rain to a song called “Delicate,” which many assumed was about ex Joe Alwyn.
After its release, Taylor shared details of the video on Instagram.she I have written“When I was writing the music video for Fortnite, I wanted to show the world in my head that led to the creation of this music. Almost everything in it was a metaphor or a nod to a corner of the album. For me, this video turned out to be the perfect visual representation of this record and the stories it tells. ”
Showing her love for Post Malone, Ethan and Josh, Taylor wrote, “@postmalone amazed me on set as our struggling tragic hero. So grateful for everything he put into this collaboration. I’m still laughing.” To work with some of the coolest guys on the planet, @ethanhawke and @mrjoshcharles (Meet the Tortured Poet, the Colleague Across the Hall, and the Dead Poet). ”
Following this video, Taylor also launched the #ForAFortnightChallenge with a YouTube short, offering a glimpse into her happy life with Travis Kelsey.
The Swifties incorporated the striking similarities between Taylor’s 2024 Grammys look and the look she wears in the video into one clever Easter egg in their music video.
She also seems to be channeling 1920s-30s “It Girl” actress Clara Bow. Track 16 of “TTPD” is actually called “Clara Bow.”
Fans have delved into the 1920s “It Girl” actress’ painful personal life. She was under intense scrutiny and rumors about her became fodder for the media. (Sounds like someone we know?) She became socially withdrawn and ended up in a psychiatric facility. one point.
