Taiwan’s defense officials said they were monitoring Chinese military aircraft and ships approaching the island and had Taiwan’s military respond to “these activities.”
Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense tweeted that it had spotted 29 PLA aircraft and three PLA warships around Taiwan by 6 a.m. local time Tuesday. Naval vessels, and land-based missile systems to respond to these activities. ”
In a subsequent tweet, he said 21 Chinese aircraft had entered Taiwan’s Southeastern Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ).

A day earlier, a Taiwanese defense official said Chinese military planes and ships were also detected near the border.
Taiwanese government officials believe China is preparing an excuse to attack the island after a year of military threats and aggression.
Taiwan’s Foreign Minister Joseph Wu told The Guardian that China was “more serious than ever”. China recently conducted a military warfare exercise around Taiwan after Houston Chairman Nancy Pelosi visited the island.
In addition to fighting on land, Chinese forces have reportedly conducted blockades and missile launches at sea. China’s military is using advanced technology such as the J-20 stealth fighter and the DF-17 hypersonic missile in its training.

“And it is certainly possible that China will use another pretext to carry out future attacks on Taiwan. So this is a military threat to Taiwan,” Wu told the newspaper.
