NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – The Hammond Fire Department is seeking public assistance in identifying suspects in connection with a fire inside a Hammond Walmart on Christmas Eve.
Around 6 p.m., the Hammond Fire Department responded to a call to a fire inside a Walmart store at Block 2700 on W. Thomas Street.
Employees and customers used fire extinguishers to extinguish the fire, which was contained in the store’s paint corridor. About 500 people, including customers and employees, were in the store when the fire broke out, but no one was injured and they evacuated safely.
The suspect was identified in surveillance photos as a man wearing a dark gray or black hoodie sweatshirt, light colored pants, khaki shoes, and a black beanie cap.

He was last seen exiting the parking lot in a dark Ford F-150.
