Is there anyone who could help with some tidying up around the house? right?
Imagine a small helper robot that can clean rooms around your house on its own. Scientists at New York University and AI at Meta Inc. have teamed up to create a robot that does just that.
They call it OK Robot. This is like a smart vacuum cleaner that can not only clean but also pick up toys and other objects around the house and place them where they should be.

Here’s how to test OK-Robot
Someone uses an app on their iPhone that allows them to draw detailed 3D-like maps of their rooms, but this is for robots. The app is smart enough to see everything in the room, from kids’ toys to furniture, just like us. The robot then uses this map to find and navigate objects in the room.

guess what?It almost worked
“You just tell the robot in natural language what to pick up and where to drop it, and it will do it,” wrote Lerel Pinto, one of the researchers at New York University, in a post on X. This robot, named Stretch, is pretty good at: this. It’s like a tall pole on wheels with a handy arm to grab and move things. When the room isn’t too cluttered, it does a great job finding and moving things correctly more than half the time. It’s even better if things are neat and tidy.

A future where housework is reduced
Robot brains come from what we call AI or artificial intelligence, which is how machines learn and act like humans. This robot uses AI that is available to anyone on the internet. That’s what makes this robot so special. I am using something that is freely available.
But it’s not perfect. When it finds something it doesn’t recognize, it just stops and doesn’t know what to do next. Therefore, it works best if the room is tidy and there aren’t too many things that can clutter it up.
What is artificial intelligence (AI)?
The people who make robots want to make them even easier to use by teaching them how to understand when you talk to them. They’re excited because they think that if we all start believing that it’s possible to have helper robots in our homes, we’ll see more amazing robots in the future.

Cart important points
The important point is that OK-Robot is a huge step forward for robots that can help in the home. This shows that robots can do more than just factory work. In fact, they help us keep our homes clean and tidy. As these robots get smarter, they will become an even bigger part of our lives, and things will become easier for all of us if they don’t kill us first.
