hyderabad: A delegation representing the Sikh community of Telangana, consisting of Civil Demand Corporation Chairman Sardar Rabinder Singh, Minorities Commissioner Sardar Darshan Singh, President Gurdwara Sahib Attapour, Sardar Sukhdev Singh and other Sikh representatives from Hyderabad and Karimnagar, met with Minority Finance Corporation Chairman Mohammad Ishak Imtiaz on Friday.
During the meeting, the delegation submitted a memorandum of understanding expressing concerns and demands on behalf of the Sikh community. They called on the Chair to approve the allocation of sewing machines to women belonging to the Sikh community and stressed the need to provide adequate support and resources to empower women in the community.
The delegation also argued that the Sikh community should receive a fair share in various welfare and development projects initiated by the Telangana government. They called for special consideration in the selection process for subsidies and other beneficial institutions to empower economically disadvantaged Sikh families, especially those living below the poverty line.
The memorandum highlights the challenges faced by Sikh communities in various districts, including Hyderabad, where financial hardships and social inequalities persist. The delegation stressed the importance of government support to address these issues and ensure a fair chance for progress and well-being of the Sikh community.
Minority Finance Corporation Chairman Ishak Imtiaz responded to the concerns of the delegation and assured the government’s commitment to provide adequate representation and support to all minority communities, including Sikhs, Parsis, Buddhists and Jains. He reaffirmed that the State Government, headed by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, is dedicated to promoting the development and prosperity of all ethnic minorities in Telangana.
Chair Ishak Imtiaz recognized the valuable contribution of the Sikh community to the nation and the need to address their unique needs and aspirations. He assured the delegations that their recommendations and requests would be seriously considered and efforts would be made to implement them effectively.
The meeting ended on a positive note, with representatives of the Sikh community thanking the Chair for his inclusive approach and efforts to address concerns. They expressed hope to see local communities increase their inclusion and participation in the state’s development efforts, in line with the government’s vision of an inclusive and prosperous Telangana state.
