Delaina Boyd, Vice President of Community Engagement, retires after 32 years of dedicated service at Ball State University.a reception It will be held in her honor on December 6th from 4-6pm at the EB and Bertha C. Ball Center.
Mr. Boyd began his college career in 1990 as an Associate Director of the Organizational Resource Center, helping design training and consulting programs to address employee and organizational development needs. After some time, she became the director of the unit, a role she held until 2008.
“Delaina’s all weathered,” she said Susie Jones Project Coordinator for the Office of Community Engagement and team member for 30 years. “She was her glue that held everyone together. When she worked with her, she always made me want to work with her.”
For decades, Delaina has spearheaded efforts to build mutually beneficial partnerships in the Muncie community and East Central Indiana. She was instrumental in founding her outreach unit, Building Better Communities, in 2009, developing her protocol for the university’s first outreach and engagement report, and served as department head. Building a better community is then Community Engagement Office, with Boyd as the founding director. She then became Associate of the Office her vice her president in 2017.
Mr. Boyd has worked tirelessly with his team to develop and implement campus-wide strategic initiatives that advance teaching, research, and service goals and best practices in support of partnerships throughout East Central Indiana.she led the creation of Northeast Indiana Regional Health Education Center (part of health university) and the BUILDING BETTER REGIONS An initiative to help revitalize the Muncie district.
Her hard work and dedication gave her Business Unlimited Muncie Women 2017 Lifetime Achievement Award, Indiana Campus Compact (now Alliances involving communities) Community Engagement Manager 2019 and Ball State Manager of Excellence 2020.
