Former fan club president and employee Yolanda Saldivar, the convicted killer of slain singer Selena, is scheduled to be released on parole soon after serving nearly 30 years in prison.
people magazine According to reports, Saldivar spoke about his future from behind bars in four interviews for the Oxygen True Crime series “Selena and Yolanda: The Secret Between Them.”
Saldivar, who is scheduled for parole on March 30, 2025, bought the gun on March 26, 1995, after Selena confronted him about defrauding the singer’s clothing boutique while he was at work. .
Five days later, Saldivar shot and killed Selena at a Days Inn in Corpus Christi, Texas. The 23-year-old rising star died at the scene.
Police got into a standoff with Saldivar, who had barricaded himself in his truck in a motel parking lot, and threatened to commit suicide. She turned herself in and was found guilty of first-degree murder, even though she claimed that her murder was just an accident and that she intended to kill herself, not her idol.
Years later, Saldivar, now 63, will speak out about her situation and offer new insight into what she believes really happened that day. Oxygen promises that the show will “examine Saldívar’s interpretation of the events that ended in Selena’s death and her claims that not everything was as it seemed.”
