Pine Island Elementary has experienced many challenges over the past three years, but continues to “shining” In so many ways. Over the last three months, PIE has benefited from many local, county, and national communities to help school students. Some examples include Suwanee Springcrest Elementary School in Live Oak, Florida. The school held a toy drive and donated over 1,000 of her toys to PIE students.
The Bag of Hope Organization also supported the PIE Holiday Giving Tree by donating all of the Giving Tree’s holiday gifts to staff and friends.
At Yorktown Elementary School in Yorktown, Indiana, students, staff and families hosted a fundraiser in October with all proceeds going to families at Pine Island Elementary School. A fundraiser helped raise her $3,900 for PIE students. They wanted to help local students recover after Hurricane Ian had a huge impact on their community.
The City First Church of Cape Coral dropped off hundreds of additional gifts and distributed them to students in brown bags. Other organizations such as Beacon of Hope, Bobby Holloway Jr. Foundation, Matlacha Hookers, VFW, and Greater Pine Island Kiwanis Club also provide assistance to students.
In addition, many individual donors from Pine Island and across the state have reached out to the school to offer some assistance. He said he was overwhelmed by the amount of support the school received. He said in the 25 years he’s been in the Lee County school district, he’s never seen that kind of support come to a school.
Millins and his staff, including front office staff Mendy Nelson, Shannon Schaal, Amy Williamson, Lynn Newman, and many volunteers, have spent countless hours organizing all of these various initiatives. . This group of individuals “gift” It was an initiative, but we worked with so many island and local organizations to support island families.
We would also like to thank the Pine Island Fire Department for volunteering to distribute presents to PIE families as they picked up their parents.
